The Company operates in Ethiopia in a move aimed at consolidating regional economic integration. Nile petroleum took the initiative to become the first major Sudanese company to operate at the regional level. It set up storage facilities and a distribution and marketing network in Ethiopia and is currently planning and executing petroleum export operations in neighboring countries.
The Ethiopian experience represents a landmark in the company history. At the end of 2008 the company began marketing its environmentally friendly ethanol bio-fuel products at its storage facilities in Salolta neighborhood outside the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.
Nile Company receives and blends fuel with ethanol bio-fuel and then distributes the product to all companies operating in Ethiopia. That was the first integrated experience of its kind in the African continent led by Nile Company which became the first African national company to undertake such activity.
The company exports Petroleum Products to the friendly state of Chad and is planning to operate in East and West Africa neighboring states. East Africa Nile Company has already been established to operate, in Kenya, serving Headquarters, and from there to expand operations into Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi and Malawi. The necessary approvals have been secured for the company to build the largest storage facility in East Africa/ this would allow Kenya to save over 200$ US million that is paid par the Kenyan citizen as storage fees to oil tankers.
